My name is Daniel Althoff, and I have been in this process of becoming for the better part of my life. Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia provided many an opportunity to grow and explore in an outdoor environment. Trail running, hiking, lake swimming, tree climbing, and other such things were the norm in my youth. After the early 20's loss of focus experienced by most I came back to fitness, this time with a better understanding of it's place in my mental and physical health. Over the years I have studied and practiced several physical and mental disciplines including classic Western strength, endurance, and cross training, aikido, judo, pugilism, vinyasa yoga, the teachings of Bruce Lee, kettle bell training, methode naturelle, capoeira, tai chi, and qui gong. I also come from a lineage of German farmers and have grown a respect for the daily work ethic that comes along with such genes. The sum of all these things has led me to the creation of Simplify Fitness, an ever changing, ever growing concept that emphasizes a balance of physical attributes and a reconnection of the mind and body, pushing both beyond individual limits. A "Be As A Child" reactionary method of perpetual, economical motion that challenges the Big 7 and provides capability in the Basic 4 while primarily using the environment provided to supply our challenges.
Seasons dictate the actions of animals and athletes alike so why shouldn't the modern man/woman train in the same way. By thinking on a longer, more linear path of training rather than just "working out to lose 5 pounds for summer", we begin to instill a balanced lifestyle.
